If it has been five or more years since your child has received a tetanus containing vaccine and he/she is entering the 7th grade, he/she must receive a Tdap vaccination within 30 calendar days from the first day of attendance in the 7th grade.  In addition, all students entering 7th grade must receive the meningococcal (meningitis vaccine).  This is mandated by North Carolina State Law(General Statutes 130A-152) and Northampton County School Board Policy.  If the school does not receive proof of this immunization within the 30 days, he/she will not be allowed to come to school.  School nurses will be checking for this information, and principals will enforce this law.
