Age Eligibility:
A child must be 4 years old on or before August 31st to enroll in the Pre-Kindergarten Program. A child enrolling in Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before August 31st.


Speech Language:
Speech Language Impairment does not guarantee a placement in school. When eligible, Pre-Kindergarten students may receive speech language services in the home setting if determined appropriate.

 

 

 NC Pre-K    Title I    Exceptional Children
   Early
Intervention
The NC Pre-K Program is open to all eligible 4 year olds.  Eligibility is determined based on previous services, developmental risk factors and income.  This program is designed to make sure that unserved and underserved children have quality preschool experiences prior to entering Kindergarten.  
The Title I program is open to all eligible 4 year olds.  Eligibility is determined based on risk factors.  These are determined by a point system based on given criteria.  This program is designed to eliminate the achievement gap between student subgroups.
  The EC Pre-K program is open to all eligible 3 and 4 year olds.  Eligibility is determined based on evaluations completed by various agencies.  Students are eligible to receive services on their 3rd birthday once they are found eligible.  Children in this program display 25%-30% delays in one or more areas of development.    Early Intervention Services are available for children ages birth - 3 who are determined to be eligible through the Children's Developmental Services Agency, located in Rocky Mount, NC.  There is a satellite office in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  Children must have a diagnosed disability or medical condition to be eligible for this program.  For more information, please call (252) 537-4796 and ask to speak with Susan Balmer.
             
             
 Head Start             Early Head Start

The CADA Head Start Program collaborates with the public school system to serve eligible 4 year olds. Eligibility is determined based on income.  Head Start collaborative services are offered at Central Elementary School.

         

The Early Head Start Program is designed for children ages birth - 3.  The Head Start Program also serves 3 and 4 year-olds.  The Central Office for these programs is located at CADA in Rich Square, NC.  For more information regarding these programs, call (252) 539-4155.  Lamont Clark is the enrollment coordinator.
