The 2019-2020 school year will be one of growth and renewal for Gaston Middle School. We will reaffirm our commitment to the community that we will provide a high quality education and meet the needs of the whole child. We will combine the expertise of our dedicated returning staff members with the strengths of our new staff members to become the most improved middle school in the Roanoke Valley.

My vision for Gaston Elementary School focuses on two main areas and aligns with the goals of Northampton County Schools:

1. Every Child Succeeding: All decisions will be centered around our students and their needs. Not only will we focus on our students' academic success, but we will also ensure that we are meeting their social and emotional needs in an environment that is safe and supportive. I plan to collaborate with our families and community partners as these partnerships are essential for helping students achieve at their maximum potential. I will purposefully make an effort to listen to parents, support them, and ensure that they have the tools to be active partners in their childrens' school experience. The commitment of the Gaston Elementary staff to support each student and build positive, healthy student-teacher relationships is central to their achievement.

2. Every Child Has Excellent Teachers: I am committed to working alongside the teachers of Gaston Elementary School and supporting their professional growth. Teachers and staff of Gaston Elementary will receive professional learning on the curriculum, meeting the social and emotional needs of students, and utilizing effective instructional strategies. Promoting the professional learning of teachers is crucial to the achievement of our students.
