NCHS JROTC Wins Best Company

LTC Ledbetter, his Cadre and his Company of 89 Cadets win Best Company at the grueling JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) camp held at Fort Barfoot (formerly called Fort Pickett) in Blackstone, VA from June 18-24, 2024.   A typical day at JCLC Eagle begins at 5:30 a.m. and doesn’t end until lights out at 11:00 p.m.  JCLC is designed to test Cadets’ ability to perform various leadership, mental, and physical fitness skills in a competitive military style environment.  Cadets are challenged in the following competitive activities: 90-foot Rappel tower; One-Rope Bride; Air rifle marksmanship; Land Navigation (Night/Day); First Aid; Obstacle Course; Drown Proofing; Leadership Reaction Course; FLRC (Field Leadership Reaction Course) and STEM.  It all culminates with an Awards ceremony to recognize which of the three companies led by Lieutenant Colonel’s has performed the very best and has bragging rights for the next year.
