Welcome to my page!

I'm a firm believer that every child has the potential necessary to be successful. A huge part of their success is to be invested in their own success just as much--if not more than I am. In order for their learning path or journey to be a positive experience, students must be empowered and encouraged to take ownership of their learning. This advocacy for accountability will secure and ensure their investments of this "buy-in" process. They absolutely MUST truly believe and KNOW that they are capable of building greatness as long as they make proper use of the tools they've been provided.

I’ve always found joy in learning, even as a child and especially as an adult. It's very important to me that my students understand that I am an avid advocate of lifelong learning. I've always worked with children in some capacity since I was a teenager. However, once I started teaching others, I realized not only how much I enjoyed sharing my skills and knowledge with students, but learning from them as well.

I began teaching in January 2018. Each year, I seek to grow as an educator and as an individual by being a better version of myself than I was the previous year. After teaching all subjects in 2nd and 3rd grade, and Math & Science in 5th grade, I found that my niche is 5th Grade Science. This is where my heart flutters the most and where my data has proven that I am most impactful.

As scientists, we research and think critically;  observe and experiment;  collect, and analyze data; and immerse ourselves in the gifts of the natural world.

Since January 2018, with each group of students I teach, I work hard to create an engaging, eye-opening and challenging syllabus - one that will help my students expand their horizons and push their boundaries. My goal is to equip them with the tools necessary for success and to facilitate ways for them to take ownership of their learning, preparing them to exceed the expectations set before them--Proficiency|Mastery of 5th Grade NC Science Standards.

I encourage my students to advocate for themselves and to provide me with constructive feedback while welcoming an open, respectful, and appropriate dialogue in each and every class.
