Here are a few things that can be done during the time away from school:
- Establish a schedule. Spend a few hours a day on learning activities.
- Establish a space for learning to take place.
- Utilize some of the district resources: Study Island, Exact Path, Pearson sites.
- Schedule time for exercise. Google GoNoodle, Jack Hartmann videos, The Learning Station, etc.
- Teach life skills: cooking, counting money, assign chores, sewing on a button, changing the oil, prepare a favorite recipe, etc.
- Play board games.
- Use your imagination.
- Create a tent in the living room.
- Create sock puppets and use them to retell a story that you read.
- Act out a favorite story.
- Play charades.
- Read books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
- Conduct simple science experiments.
- Talk to your child(ren) about COVID-19 to ease anxiety.
